Electronic Settlers of Catan designed in just ONE day!

I love making things and I love board games… You can probably see where this is going. I decided I wanted to challenge myself to design an entire project in just one day.

I grabbed my camera, GoPro and my laptop and got to it! This my DIY version of a Settlers of Catan board. In addition to designing the 3D models, I also designed two different circuit boards (one with some colored lights, the other to control it all)! This video follows my process from beginning to end.

I am planning on making a series of these kinds of videos. I am going to call the series “Design in a day”. Around once a month or so I will put out a call for project ideas on my instagram (  / samsonmarch  . I will pick one and spend the day designing the whole thing from scratch!

Because it often takes time for building materials to show up at my door, I will plan to make a second follow up video for all these projects where I actually build them (expect 2-4 weeks later).

Just like all of my projects, this entire series will be open source, so all the files will be available for free for you to make your own! I will post them when I post the build video.
