Danny Carter of Gore, Ok and I went to Winfield KS Walnut Valley Festival in 2004 just to hang out, sleep in the bed of the truck and observe the instrument contests. About midnight before this contest Danny informed me that he had secretly paid my entry fee and entered me in the contest. I wasn't happy about this at first, but thought, what the heck. I called Robbie Melton, who was also at the festival and told him to meet me bright and early in the morning to work up some tunes for the contest. We had no idea what would happen next. The performance was impromptu, unpolished and from the hip but did the trick. Since we had no intentions of doing this when we headed out, friends and family never got to see the action until now.
21 years after this happened, my boys found this while digging through some old boxes in my shop. I don't remember ever seeing it before. Hope you enjoyed.
