Learn how to cover outdoor faucets and hose bibs to prevent freezing and bursting, wrap vulnerable trees and plants with frost cloth or blankets (avoid direct plastic!), drain and store garden hoses properly, and other quick DIY tips to avoid expensive damage in a Texas cold snap. These simple preparations can protect your yard and home during power outages when temps drop below freezing. Perfect for Central Texas winters!

***Note: If your area has been dry/without rainwater, and un watered, so dehydrated, before the cold temperatures arrive, you may want to water perennials and shrubs on drip for about 15 minutes. For non-established trees, run a hose around the root zone for about 10-20 minutes. The goal is to relieve dehydration while not over- hydrating.
