Russia’s Federal Security Service has launched a series of operations targeting alleged corruption, organized crime and sabotage, underscoring a tightening internal security posture as the war in Ukraine continues. The FSB said it arrested a diplomat from Russia’s foreign ministry on corruption charges and dismantled an illegal currency exchange network in the Donetsk region that generated more than 18 million rubles. Authorities also reported foiling an alleged car bombing plot in Stavropol involving an 18-year-old woman allegedly recruited by Ukrainian special services. Officials say the investigations could expand to retired diplomats and focus on crimes committed since February 2022, reflecting heightened wartime scrutiny of internal threats.
