Description: This Toyota Scion xB, had a complaint of losing large amounts of power steering fluid. I removed the passenger side wheel to inspect the pump and lines better. While it did have some wet greasy build-up around the pump, it wasn`t the problem. After a closer inspection of the sub-frame underneath the vehicle, it was wet from fluid on the driver side. After removing the driver side wheel, the leak was spotted running down the rubber dust boot that covers the steering shaft going through the floor. It will need a new rack because the shaft seal is worn and likely the rest of it isn`t far behind with over 130k miles on it.
