Leaving Zamtang, we arrived in Garze Prefecture in western Sichuan, situated in the most complex terrain region of China (the Hengduan Mountains), where steep snow-capped mountains and valleys hide many unknown wonders. At the border between Sichuan and Xizang, we found a small town at the foot of a snow-capped mountain - Menshod. It boasts beautiful scenery, ancient temples, and traditional Tibetan lifestyle. Although far away from cities, it is a very international town. Many young locals have received higher education, and many of them can speak English and French. Why it is?
