南河水帝，太伯龍王。神咒流行，普掃不詳。洪水飛災，止蛟召龍。開除水境，千道萬通。敢有幹試，懾送火宮。赤書所吿，莫敢不從。龍德威嚴天尊，不可思議功德。

The "Dragon King Mantra" originates from the Taoist scripture Tai Shang Dong Yuan Shen Zhou Jing (The Most High Dongyuan Scripture of Divine Spells). This mantra expresses pious reverence for the Dragon Kings, who are regarded as guardians of natural order, masters of waterways, and regulators of climate. By harmonizing the cosmic balance, it seeks to resolve natural disasters—such as pestilence, drought, and floods—while maintaining ecological equilibrium. The mantra functions by subduing jiaolong (aquatic demons that have not yet fully transformed into dragons) and summoning the True Dragon (the Dragon King) to prevent catastrophic disturbances. It also metes out divine punishment for acts that disrupt nature or desecrate the sacred, serving as a warning to humanity to honor both the natural world and the divine, thereby preserving heaven-and-earth harmony. Through sincere chanting or listening to this mantra practitioners may dispel afflictions, reduce karmic obstacles, and alleviate calamities and suffering. Simultaneously, it underscores the importance of revering natural laws and cultivating humility and compassion.
