So I fix the 3 main problems with painting with food coloring:
Dye not absorbing into the wood
Uneven color application
Bleeding

DIY chinchilla cage accessories are a fun thing to make and add to a cage. but the wood color scheme can get boring! So why not color your chinchillas shelves, your pet chinchilla cage accessories, etc. This is the splash of color you need in your chinchilla cage!
