The New York, Susquehanna and Western (NYS&W) is a class II railroad operating in New York and New Jersey. The railroad maintains a roster comprised solely of EMD power, which includes two unique SD33ECOs, which were rebuilt from former Southern Pacific SD40T-2s. The company also leases two GMTX SD60s due to a 2018 derailment.
On the afternoon of Monday, January 27th, 2019, we watch as NYS&W SU-99, the bi-weekly freight from Ridgefield Park, NJ, to Binghamton, NY, crosses Mount Vernon Street in Ridgefield Park. In charge of today's train is SD33ECO #3016, followed by GMTX SD60 #9014. Trailing third is SD60 #3802. The trio of locomotives are only pulling one centerbeam, and will pick up the rest of their train at MC Yard, less than half a mile away.
