The road from Thodupuzha to Pala (both in Kerala) is one of the most scenic countryside drives in Central Kerala, passing through green valleys, rubber plantations, paddy fields, and small villages.
🚗 Road Views: Thodupuzha → Pala
Distance: ~32 km
Travel Time: ~1 hr by car/bike
Route: Thodupuzha → Muttom → Karimkunnam → Bharananganam → Pala
🌿 What You’ll See on the Way
Rubber Plantations 🌳
This belt is full of rubber estates with neatly lined trees.
In the mornings, you’ll often see workers tapping rubber.
Countryside Villages 🏡
Red-tiled houses, village churches, and temples by the roadside.
You’ll pass through quiet towns like Muttom and Karimkunnam.
Paddy Fields & Streams 🌾
Flat valleys with green/yellow paddy fields depending on the season.
Small canals and streams flowing alongside the road.
Hill Views ⛰️
Gentle rolling hills in the background as you approach Pala.
Not as high as Munnar/Idukki, but gives a calm, rural charm.
Churches & Pilgrim Spots ⛪
Bharananganam (on the way) is famous for St. Alphonsa’s shrine – a major Christian pilgrimage center.
You’ll see traditional Kerala churches and chapels dotting the route.
🛣️ Road Quality & Experience
Well-paved two-lane road (Kerala state highway).
Winding but smooth, with occasional sharp curves.
Pleasant drive, especially early morning or late evening when mist forms in some stretches.
🌸 Best Time for the Drive
Monsoon (June–Sept): Everything turns lush green, streams overflow.
Post-Monsoon (Oct–Feb): Cool weather, best for photography.
Summer (Mar–May): Hotter but still scenic with rubber shade and paddy.
