I have needed a few weeks to process Ahsoka and Thrawn’s appearance in it. Thrawn from the Canon book series is my favourite character in all of Star Wars, there I said it. Thrawn Rebels is ok and even good at some points. But the Thrawn from Ahsoka is completely unrecognisable and I am going to tell you why. On the surface He looks like Thrawn, he sounds like Thrawn so therefore its Thrawn right? Well no. And in this video I am going to tell you why.
Hello and welcome to Star Wars Grand Moff I am the Grand Moff and Today I want to tell you why this Thrawn may look like him but is so far from what he should be. Traits that Define Thrawn in the books and in Star Wars Rebels.
Highly Capable - if he says something he is nearly always right.
Well informed – To defeat an opponent you must know them study them.
Able to see patterns - Thrawn can see patterns that allows to predict and counter his opponents.
Let’s unpack each of those and compare them to scenes from Ashoka.
Thrawn is Highly capable. Thrawn does not say things unless he is sure he is right. Throughout the books if he is unsure he will say perhaps, possible, or we do not have enough information at the moment. It is rare if impossible to find a time when Thrawn is wrong about a tactical matter in the books. Simply because he is never wrong about them. In Ahsoka Thrawn has to load the cargo before the Jedi stop him. Very simple scenario. Load the cargo and escape before they get to you. Let’s see what Thrawn says about this. (Clips) He repeatedly says they have run out of time and there is no time left. Yes he escapes spoilers but only because the plot wants him to. If Thrawn says it it should be true but it just isn’t not even close. Thrawn can be wrong and if Ahsoka used some hidden force power or walked through the world between worlds to get there in time you could understand why she got there in time and why Thrawn was wrong. But no she takes a warg and runs straight there. And makes it in time. So, Thrawn was wrong over and over again.
Well informed - In the third book his flag officer, Karen Farrow, an excellent tactician in her own right said is in response to is Thrwan always right with of course not but when he is wrong it is due to lack of information. So, what does live action Thrawn do ( Clip studing Ahsoka.) Excellent this is Thrawn he is going to study her and find a hidden weakness which is going to be the key to him winning and escaping – no, just no. (Clip she will be unpredictable.) Really that’s it so vague. And wrong she does the most obvious plan every time. How to get into the stronghold, charge straight at it. Ahsoka didn’t even have a plan except turn up and run straight at it. This should not have been a hard thing to predict or counter. They didn’t even shut the doors. Can you imagine! But appeal Dave Filoni understand Thrawn. Really?!
Thrawn is able to see the patterns in his opponents and counter them. But this encounter is so brain dead from both sides. As stated Ahsoka just charges at Thrawn’s base. And Thrawn does everything last minute from picking a Morgan and the tiny squad to stay behind to get the night sisters to make zombies. He sees no patterns in this show and he is so brain dead, I wanted a Sherlock Holmes but instead we get someone who would lose chess match against Jarjar while thinking he is winning the entire match.
