Raven (south) Trail Post June 2025 Storm (2025-08-21)

Late evening on 21 June 2025 a severe thunderstorm and damaging winds swept across a wide swath of Eastern Ontario, that included the Madawaska and Haliburton highlands. A series of damaging microbursts accompanied this storm. One such microburst occurred in northern boundary area of the SLBM Trails.

The Raven (south) trail had minor impact from the storm. Rubble has been cleared.

There has been virtually no rain in Madawaska region for 5+ weeks as of 21 August. The ground is extremely dry.

You will observe in this video that trees, bushes and plants have gone into survival mode with leaves shrivelling, turning colour and dropping off.

No amount of rain now will be of help.

Prognosis is the autumn 2025 show of colour will not be stellar this year.
