Episode 58 - A Trip to Gilligan's Island!

Today’s voyage took us from Chub Cay to Nassau, Bahamas during a brief weather window where the winds would be light enough for a crossing. We traveled 39.3 nautical miles at an average speed of 8.8 knots, on this 4 ½ hour journey.
While in Nassau, we celebrated Valentine’s Day with dinner out at the restaurant located right at our marina! They had delicious food!
We also did a lot of grocery shopping at a mall that was just across the street from the marina followed by various trips to the local marine supply stores to obtain the supplies we would need before heading to the Exuma’s where we did not expect to be able to get much of anything.
Once the winds died down some we departed the marina and headed to what would be our first anchorage in the Bahamas, and we were NOT disappointed!
Approaching Gilligan’s Island (also known as Sandy Cay)… you are unable to dock or beach your dinghy as the waves are often too much to safely land the dinghy. As a result, we anchored our dinghy and swam to shore without cameras. You’ll just have to come and see this pretty island for yourself someday!
