Demystify threat response without hype.
Threat cue → amygdala flag → adrenaline/cortisol → narrowed attention, higher heart rate, shaky fine motor skills; why tiny rehearsals widen choice.
Safe ways to burn off excess arousal:
Short burst movement: 60–90 seconds brisk walk, stairs, or jogging in place.
Big-muscle activation: 20–30 seconds wall push, chair-seat pull, isometric “press palms together”.
Shake it out: deliberate whole-body shaking for 20–30 seconds, then slow exhale.
Physiological sigh: one deep inhale + quick top-up sniff, then long mouth exhale; repeat 2–3 times.
Grounding: cold water on wrists/face; name 5 things you can see/feel/hear.
Action: Two slow nasal breaths, then one movement burst before you respond.
