460 let od úmrtí proslulého českého kronikáře Václava Hájka z Libočan vydalo nakladatelství Academia ve spolupráci s badateli z Ústavu pro českou literaturu Akademie věd novou, moderní edici jeho Kroniky české. Nové vydání tak upozornilo na význam nejen tohoto na svou dobu ojedinělého díla, ale i na důležitost samotné a tak trochu opomenuté postavy Václava Hájka z Libočan. Kronika česká až do 19. století patřila, a to i přes tvrdou kritiku historiků, k nejčtenějším a nejoblíbenějším česky psaným knihám, ze které vycházelo mnoho českých autorů, ale i výtvarných umělců.
460 years after the death of the famous Czech chronicler Wenceslaus Hájek of Libočany, the Academia publishing house has printed, in collaboration with researchers from the Institute of Czech Literature of the Academy of Sciences, a new, modern edition of his Annales Bohemorum. The new edition turns the spotlight on both the importance of this work — unique not just in its period — and the importance of the somewhat overlooked figure of Hájek of Libočany himself. Well into the 19th century, the Annales Bohemorum was, harsh criticism on the part of historians notwithstanding, among the most widely read and popular Czech books, which many a Czech writer and fine artist drew inspiration from.
