Imperial ships in Warhammer 40k travel via two fundamentally different modes, firstly within realspace, they travel with the help of plasma engines that cover inter planetary and sometimes short interstellar trips. While plasma engines provide raw forward thrust, heavy thrusters, also called reaction thrusters are used for course adjustments, turning, orbital insertion, and station-keeping. These are mounted along the flanks, prow, stern, and keel of the vessel and often work in coordinated firing patterns to rotate the ship or shift its trajectory. Then for longer distances, Warp drives are utilized which takes them through the sea of souls, and exit at a Mandeville point to a system multiple light years away, although the time taken to do so would vary tremendously. But, for the sake of this video, let us only focus on the plasma drive which lets ships travel in real space.
