The atomic bomb is a device with incredible destructive power that generates energy through nuclear fission. These bombs were designed during World War II under Oppenheimer's supervision and were used only twice: in Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan, in 1945, bringing an end to the war. The core of an atomic bomb is made of Uranium 235 and Plutonium 239, heavy metals that trigger nuclear fission. The atomic bomb functions as a result of this nuclear fission chain reaction, the same nuclear fission that allows nuclear power plant reactors to produce electricity. However, although the physical principle is the same, the bomb and the power plant obviously work in different ways.
We have reconstructed 3D models of the bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki to see what they are like inside. In the video, we use exclusive 3D animation to explain their operation from a technical-scientific standpoint, and to understand what the chemical-physical reaction which causes these devices to explode is.
