When fully grown, giraffes can reach a height of about 18.7 feet, that's approximately the height of three adult humans! Roughly 6 to 7 feet of their height is all neck – an advantage to feeding on the leaves of tall Acacia trees.
But giraffes didn't evolve long necks only to reach tree leaves; it can also help them regulate their body temperatures in hot African climates! Having a long neck and flat sides helps cool them down by increasing the surface area of their bodies where internal heat can escape.
