One of the oldest mess in Bengaluru-Mudde Madappa Mess has been serving unlimited food to Bengalureans. Started as a place to serve food to students, working class and others, Madappa mess started by its founder Madappa is known for hot ragi ball, the watery sambar, palya (vegetable stir fry), white rice, rasam, butter milk and pickle. They also give appala (pappad) which has a separate fan base.

Ragi ball and rice are served unlimited, except on the condition that the food shouldn't be left in the plate. Unlike other restaurants in Bengaluru, which roll the ragi balls and keep them in the hot case for serving, at Mudde Madappa Mess, the ragi ball is cooked one deg at a time. Before the ragi balls from the previous deg is sold, another deg is kept ready and the same process repeats. Hundreds of ragi balls are sold everyday here. The smooth dough without any lumps is taken in large quantity, made into a giant mound of ragi ball is made and it is brought to the table and the dough is broken into small balls sized bigger than a tennis ball.
