Although onion is a very popular vegetable in local dishes, it was not cultivated during the rainy season in Mali, which led consumers to rely on imported onions which had a high price.
Through the Jege ni Jaba project, ICCO and its partners have introduced varieties suited for the rainy season and improved the availability of the produce for consumers while enhancing revenue of onion producers.
