in the last video, I’ve talked about the basic of the trigram, which is the BaGua
This video, I’m going to talk about more in the sixty-four hexagram.

FuXi, the first King of China, reveal BaGua. and King Wen, the founder of Zhou Dynasty, reorganise and appended the trigram and lines. FuXi created BaGua with 3 lines, which is the 8 trigram. It also named as single Hexagram. King Wen appended the trigram and make it 6 lines in total.

Six lines in mandarin are called 六爻. So it's also commonly called as liuYao Gua, and it is also commonly called as wenwanggua文王卦.

Confucius and his students wrote a collection of commentaries(傳）to the I Ching, which is the Ten Wings（十翼 shí yì) , Ten Wings has a total of 10 collections. In one of the collection, wing 9, called the Sequence of the Hexagrams (序卦傳 Xugua zhuan). Confucius and his students divided hexagram into 2 groups, which is upper 30 hexagram, and lower 34hexagram.

In the Oracle system of King Wen divination, the 64 hexagrams are divided into a total of 8 palaces. Each palace has a leader, the leader is formed by the 2 exactly same trigrams. the lower trigram and the upper trigram are exactly the same. This type of hexagram has a special name. It called the pure hexagram 八純卦.

On this evolution process. From the Original palace where the pure hexagram is. The evolution started at the first line till the fifth line. but right until the sixth line, it stops and no more evolution at the sixth line. at this stage, this type of hexagram that involve in this kind of reversing evolution has a specific name. this specific kind of hexagram is called wandering soul hexagram 遊魂卦. in every palace, the seventh move of the evolution will be a wandering soul hexagram.


In the King Wen Oracle system, when we try to explain the prediction answer from the hexagram. Most of the time, we need to use a reference point to start out the analysis. The start-up point may start from the self-line. 世爻. Every of the hexagram has a self-line. and the self line is derived during evolution.
