Paranoimia | Re/VID - Art Of Noise

Let me tell you a story.

In the 1980s I was a teenager, and Art Of Noise was one of my favorite bands, way back from Close To The Edit days.

Then they did this song in 1986, "Paranoimia", with a tie-in to Max Headroom, a fake "Virtual" CG character of the time, that was actually actor Matt Frewer in a bunch of plastic makeup. I didn't care much about Max Headroom, but man did I fall completely head over heels with the rest of the song.

Something about that dark, funky, liquid beat and its futuristic sound reached out and grabbed me like nothing else. Ever since then, every time I listened to it I've always been seized by creative visions of giant, celestial, dancing mega-being figures getting down to Paranoimia in full HDR colors. I was telling my son about it one day not too long ago, and he said, "Why not make a music video for it?"

So that's what you have here, dear reader, along with my own brand new hyper-widefield remix of the mastered song with as little Max Headroom and as much dark, liquid funk as possible. The video was animated in Maya 2022 and rendered with Arnold, textured with Photoshop and some secret special sauce, and finally edited in Premiere Pro. Hope you enjoy it in 1440p 60fps and with some good headphones!
