Day(s) In The Life, Earth Scientists | Andes Mountains, Argentina

A third installment (March 2024) of what it is like to be a field geologist working in the high Andes of Argentina. This time, the team takes a multi-day backpacking trip into an undisclosed location to measure a stratigraphic section and conduct detailed sedimentology with the broader goal of unraveling the history of Andean mountain building in this region. Caden Howlett and Chance Ronemus were joined for a few weeks this season by friend and colleague Veleda Muller, a new post doc at the University of Arizona. It is my hope that sharing this video inspires young people to become geologists and get a glimpse into how we think about the Earth as an interconnected series of parts rather than numerous isolated elements.
