Diarrhea is characterized by loose, watery, and possibly more frequent bowel motions. It can occur itself or in conjunction with other symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, or weight loss. It can be caused by viruses, bacteria, parasites, certain medications, lactose intolerance, fructose, certain digestive disorders such as IBS, ulcerative colitis etc.
Bacterial dysentery is a GI disorder. Bacillary refers to a relationship with bacteria, and dysentery is a severe kind of diarrhea with blood or mucus. In bacillary dysentery, a bacterial infection causes inflammation in the intestines. The severity of symptoms might range from moderate to fatal. Bacteria produce bacillary dysentery, but an amoeba causes amoebic dysentery (amoebiasis); caused by a single-cell parasite
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is one of the most extensively diagnosed functional bowel disorders globally, marked by persistent or recurrent abdominal pain. Some studies investigating the use of probiotic combinations containing certain strains of Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, and Saccharomyces, highlight their usefulness in alleviating the symptoms of IBS.
