Katarina Gryvul – Vdykh Vydykh (Official Music Video)

The new music video for Katarina Gryvul’s “Vdykh Vydykh” is a reflection on the passage of time and the fragments of memories we carry within us throughout our lives — memories we revisit, reinterpret, and feel anew. The video was directed by Illya Dutsyk.

The original idea was to capture moments from the lives of people in nursing homes — people who are rarely spoken about, and even less so in Ukrainian society. The elderly often seem to simply "live out" what remains of their lives, gradually losing their zest for living. We aimed to give them a voice, show their faces, and touch upon their stories.

Unfortunately, they were unable to bring this idea to life, spending three months trying to secure filming permission without success. However, this setback gave rise to a different concept — one that proved to be even more personal and piercing.

Illya suggested filming his own grandmother, who had recently lost her husband. The idea was to tell her story, to go through grief and sorrow together. This decision became the heart of the video — raw and sincere, touching with every breath.

Coincidentally, Katarina had also recently lost her father, so the story emotionally intertwines and resonates from both sides.

Director’s comment:

"This is a deeply personal story for me. My grandfather, who was like a father to me, gave me my core values and virtues. I love him deeply, and this work is a moment of experiencing grief and painful loss. The result is a raw piece, filled with loneliness, a return to the past, and love reflected in my grandmother’s eyes. I’m grateful we did this — it’s an important reflection for our entire family, and I’m sincerely thankful to Katarina for the absolute creative match and trust."
