When read on paper, the Phoenix Wright series should never have worked. A video game about a lawyer defending his clients? Sounds outright boring, but Capcom found a way to make it surprisingly fun, goofy, and downright hysterical at times. It became so positively received and well-regarded by the niche fanbase created out of it; 10 more games came to fruition later on.

But very few moments stick out in Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney as much as hearing the Pursuit~Cornered! theme while incriminating the real culprit with the evidence you have and laying it all out against him. The satisfaction of uncovering the truth as the guilty perpetrator writhes in the fact they’ve been caught is an immersive and unforgettable experience. This arrangement of “Pursuit~Cornered!” goes through the emotions and journey one would have as their trial comes to a grand finale. Although it starts with how one would expect to hear the track, it quickly evolves in its contrast. This includes features such as:
-Synthesized pitch bends
-An oboe/cello duet illustrating the individual dynamic between Phoenix -Wright himself and his rival, Edgeworth
-A moment of despair where it seems as if Phoenix may not win the trial after all
-Brass fanfares that uncover the final, decisive piece of evidence
-A ‘literal’ OBJECTION!
-Flourishing piano runs that give Phoenix the momentum to not let the villain get away
-A triumphant trumpet trio to declare Phoenix’s victory

In its true essence, “Pursuit~Cornered!” defines encouragement. It states how close you are to your goal and confirms only one final strong effort is needed to turn the tide in your favor. We hope this arrangement fills and encourages you with the inner strength needed to come out victorious.
