Inside the NFP boardroom there are two main functions, one is setting the strategic direction (driving your NFP towards its purpose), the other is managing risk. This video is about risk in the boardroom and the importance of having a risk appetite statement (RAS), an important decision tool used to control risks and how risk is dealt within your organisation. The RAS guides the amount and type of risk acceptable in pursuit of objectives.
Once you clarify, monitor, and review your RAS, you will set the parameters for which risk can then be effectively managed. Most importantly you ensure actions are aligned with organisational purpose. Being accountable for what you can control, is key.
