In the final part of of our journey from Ankara, Turkey to Yerevan in Armenia, we travelled from Tbilisi to Yerevan on the overnight train. The train left Tbilisi at 8:20pm and arrived in Yerevan before 7am the following morning. We struggled to get to Tbilisi station which left us short of time and it was not particularly easy to find the correct platform once at the station. The train left on time; we enjoyed a comfortable journey aside from a bit of commotion from some of the other passengers during the night. There had been post-election street demonstrations in Tbilisi, but we avoided any problems and enjoyed Tbilisi very much (particularly the food). We decided to walk about 30 minutes through the early morning into Yerevan city centre when we got off the train. We were pretty weary by that point and were very grateful to find the excellent Il Gusto del Caffee for much needed early morning coffee. If you are in those parts, check it out! The train cost £95.97 ($118.75 €115.82 47,014.02AMD) for all three of us.
This video marks the conclusion of our 12-day trip from Turkey to Armenia through Georgia via the Dogu Express. We begun planning and booking the trip only 3 weeks before we left Manchester. The outbound flight from Manchester UK took us to Dalaman and then we took an internal flight on Ajet to Ankara the next day (that was much cheaper than flying to Istanbul). On the way back we flew Yerevan to Istanbul then changed for a Manchester flight. The whole trip cost £1868 ($2,310 €2,253) excluding spending money.
Thanks for watching.
