What’s up guys! Welcome back to Dame Untamed. For those of you who are new here, I’m Nikki and this is my little travel channel.

As I sit here in freezing cold Toronto, I find myself day dreaming of one of my favourite tropical vacations. It really doesn’t get much better than Hawaii. This video is going to focus on Kealakekua Bay. I was lucky enough to spend 2 days here, checking out the captain James cook memorial and exploring the beautiful reef.

For those who don’t have a private boat, there are three ways to access the monument & snorkel area.

1. Book a snorkel tour: Sea Quest Hawaii is a great option.
2. Hike in via the Ka’awaloa Trail: Trailhead is at the intersection of Highway 11 and Napo'opo'o Road near telephone pole #4. The descent is over 400m, which means the hike back up will be that much more difficult. Bring lots of water and good shoes!
3. Rent Kayaks from a reputable, permitted company: Bayside Adventures is a great choice. Tandem kayaks are $60 USD for the day.

We spent one day here on a private boat (it pays to know people!) and one day on kayaks. Definitely a must see for those visiting the Big Island.
