Here is a visual of Coastliner 840 taking almost four hours. This route runs via Ruswarp, Sleights, Goathland (for Maylian Spout Waterfall and North Yorkshire Moors Railway), Thornton-le-Dale, Pickering (for North Yorkshire Moors Railway), Kirby Misperton (for Flamingo Land Resort), Malton (for Coastliner Depot and Malton Railway Station), Stockton-on-the-Forest, York, Tadcaster and Leeds. Operated by Transdev Coastliner using 2016 Volvo B5LHs and 2012 Volvo B9TLs.
Despite Coastliner 840 being an hourly service, only four buses do the full route to Whitby and back to Leeds. The other buses terminate at Thornton-le-Dale.
