Louis Tomlinson opens up about making the album he "always deserved to make". He says it took time because he needed more experience and developed a different ambition: he's "a bit bored of proving a point" after One Direction. Now, he's focused on making a great, melodic record. Louis describes the recording process for his album (which includes the single "Palaces") as joyful, explaining that making part of it in beautiful Santa Teresa, Costa Rica, added to the music's atmosphere. Despite the tropical setting, the music maintains a "Britishness" and a "lad" vibe, which he attributes to his accent picking up in certain melodies and his obsession with the Brit sound of bands like The Courteeners and Inhaler. He realized he had to stop trying to "prove a point to the people", a shift that came from building up touring experience to a level where he couldn't doubt himself anymore. Louis emphasizes that the literal connection of live shows is why he tours so much, loving the "honesty of tour". He calls the tour "How Did We Get Here?" and encourages fans to take "ownership" of their shared live moments and his growth. He confirmed a tour to Australia is a "priority", but it will be a bit later than the rest of the tour. He teases his next single, "Imposter", and another favorite, "Jump the Gun," which has an "almost got like a Red Hot Chili Peppers kind of thing" riff. He praises his producer, Nico, a "mad scientist", for helping him translate his non-traditional, feeling-based musical ideas into production.
