Guild 1:
1. Overstory tree: Tagasaste (Chamaecytisus palmensis)
2. Understory tree: Lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, clementine
3. Shrub layer: Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis)
4. Herbaceous layer: Echinacea (Echinacea purpurea)
5. Ground cover layer: Oregano (Origanum vulgare)
6. Root layer: Salsify (Tragopogon porrifolius)
7. Climbing/vining plants: Grapevine (Vitis vinifera)
Guild 2:
1. Overstory tree: Fig tree (Ficus carica)
2. Understory tree: Pomegranate (Punica granatum), Strawberry Tree (Arbutus unedo), Feijoa (Feijoa sellowiana)
3. Shrub layer: Bay laurel (Laurus nobilis)
4. Herbaceous layer: Sage (Salvia officinalis)
5. Ground cover layer: Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla)
6. Root layer: Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale)
7. Climbing/vining plants: Passionfruit vine (Passiflora edulis)
Guild 3:
1. Overstory tree: Almond and Pistachio
2. Windbreak: Siberian pea tree (Caragana arborescens)
3. Shrub layer: Goumi berry (Elaeagnus multiflora) and Autumn Olive (Elaeagnus umbellata).
4. Herbaceous layer: Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)
5. Ground cover layer: Thyme (Thymus vulgaris)
6. Root layer: Yarrow (Achillea millefolium)
7. Climbing/vining plants: Kiwi vine (Actinidia deliciosa)
Guild 4:
1. Overstory tree: Carob tree (Ceratonia siliqua)
2. Understory tree: Peach, plum, apricot
3. Shrub layer: Common Myrtle (Myrtus communis) or Crape Myrtle (Lagerstroemia indica)
4. Herbaceous layer: Marjoram (Origanum majorana)
5. Ground cover layer: French honesuckle (Hedysarum coronarium)
6. Root layer: Chicory (Cichorium intybus)
7. Climbing/vining plants: Hops vine (Humulus lupulus)
