This presentation discusses the benefits and challenges associated with super premium IE4 induction motors, which are now required by the latest EU Ecodesign regulations for power ratings ranging from 75 kW to 200 kW for two, four, and six-pole motors. Initially, the market may view these high-efficiency motors unfavourably due to their higher price compared to IE3 motors. However, it is crucial to recognise that IE4 motors provide significant advantages and should not be seen as merely an expense, but rather as a smart investment that pays off in a relatively short timeframe. This could very well be one of the simplest and most effective investments a company can make today. Additionally, the presentation addresses concerns regarding material usage and the actual impact on carbon footprint reduction when considering the entire energy system, from generation to distribution.
