Dating apps have changed a lot over the years.

What was once a fun and quirky "show it to your friends" experience, has now morphed into something much darker and manipulative. Corporate greed has now entered the chatroom of love and dating. As a result, people of all backgrounds, genders, and orientations are losing their confidence, sense of self-worth, and motivation to find a partner in the name of speedrunning the dating process. This optimization is not inherently the fault of the consumer; it in fact lies solely on the shoulders of the business giant "Match Group" and other similarly-designed dating companies.

In this video, I broadly explore what the dating app user experience is like, discuss the core mechanisms behind how all of these apps are designed (spoiler alert, they're all the same, with a different logo slapped on each of them), and how you can break free from the endless uninstall/reinstall cycle that these apps unconsciously encourage you to do.
