During the reign of the third shogun, Iemitsu, a shrine identical to Kyoto's Sanjusangendo was built in Asakusa with the goal of promoting martial arts. It is said that Yasaki Inari Shrine was named after the shrine that was located at the end of the target when a shooting game was held down the corridors of this hall. It is also one of the Seven Lucky Gods Famous Places in Asakusa.

The main annual festival of Yasaki Inari Shrine is held every other year, but the portable shrine procession is held every year. The sight of many carriers competing to carry the portable shrine while shouting "soiya soiya" is impressive. Along the way, many construction workers perform Kiyari (wooden chores).
