Classic recovery trucks, breakdown wagons, car transporters & beavertail lorries

Here I've gathered 120+ photos of classic recovery trucks, breakdown vehicles ("wreckers"), road car and racing car transporters, and beavertail lorries - basically, any commercial vehicle that has been pressed into service in the recovery or movement of other vehicles, heavy plant (eg cranes) and so on, including artics coupled to swan-neck trailers.
The majority of the lorries featured have probably been used for vehicle recovery/transport from day one, although a number have been re-purposed during their lives to fit their new roles. For instance, several examples of vehicles used in WW2 then re-assigned to new duties once in civilian hands, are included.
Racing car transporters are represented by gems such as the Ecurie Ecosse Commer, the mighty ex-BRM Leyland, and the ex-Team Tyrrell transporter, complete with a six-wheel Tyrrell P34 in the back.
Recovery trucks, or "wreckers", are represented by vehicles from manufacturers such as Austin, Bedford, Commer, Leyland, Dodge and Land Rover to name a few.
Ex-military vehicles include one or more examples of Thornycroft, Foden, Diamond T, Ward La France, and others.
If classic recovery vehicles in all their shapes and forms are your thing, hopefully there'll be something in this collection of photos to be of interest. All of the truck photos were taken by myself over the last 20 years or so, at locations such as Goodwood, Gaydon, Donington Park, Malvern, the NEC, Silverstone, Llandudno and elsewhere across the UK.
