Have you ever had a bandmate, producer or musical director ask you to ‘play some Hendrixy clean fills’? If so, the chances are that this is what they mean. Every guitarist has their own way of interpreting it, but it’s essentially a style that has its roots in soul/rhythm and blues and is based on chord shapes, double-stops and pentatonic scales.

This is not a lesson on how to play Jimi Hendrix or John Mayer songs, but rather a step-by-step method for incorporating some of these licks and concepts into your own vocabulary.
