Duranbah Beach, affectionately known as "D-Bah," is a renowned surf spot located on the southern end of the Gold Coast, Queensland, just across the New South Wales border. Despite its position in New South Wales, it attracts surfers from both states due to its consistent and high-quality waves.
Duranbah Beach is celebrated for its powerful beach breaks, which are enhanced by the presence of the Tweed River mouth and its jetties. These features create wedging peaks that offer ample tube time, making it one of the world's finest beachbreaks.
The waves here are predominantly peaky and can pack a punch, with some breaking for up to 100 meters, though they are generally shorter. The best time of year for waves is autumn, and the ideal wind direction is from the west-southwest.
