Website- stop the stigatization of women - Muchen Li

Language is a product of society and culture. However, the prejudices and social issues caused by language itself are often overlooked. During the evolution and development of the Chinese language, some patriarchal and misogynistic cultural issues have been exposed. In modern Chinese in China, “derogatory” terms for women are far more numerous and malicious than for men, and these prejudices and stereotypes against women are reinforced in every moment of everyday communication.
This project explores the derogatory words associated with female characters and their derivatives in a deconstructive way, examining the long-standing existence of misogyny and gender bias in Chinese society. By designing interactive wall exhibits and viewing websites that highlight language as a way to perpetuate gender bias and discrimination, we provide a powerful critique of cultural norms and encourage viewers to reflect on the role language plays in shaping our beliefs and attitudes.
