Ruud Gullit is undoubtedly one of the best midfielders of the XXI century. The man was tall, strong, fast, agile, and had great technique, finishing, passing and vision. It really is hard to name a weakness in his play, and the football world acknowledged that awarding him with the 1987 Ballon d'Or. He is most famous for his time at Milan, but he did great things with the Dutch national team as well, playing in 66 international games and scoring 17 goals.
*This game was annulled by UEFA due to serious crowd trouble and was ordered to be replayed behind closed doors. On 9 December 1987, the Dutch won the rematch 4-0 at De Meer Stadium in Amsterdam.
