Several months before Operation Sa'ka, the Giza Governorate had been grappling with an array of socioeconomic challenges. While the pyramids stand as ancient symbols of Egypt's grandeur, the harsh reality for many residents reflects a stark contrast. Persistent poverty exceeding 60% has been exacerbated by rising living costs and sporadic disruptions in essential services. These issues have left many locals desperate for stability.

Efforts to ameliorate the situation gained momentum when financial aid programs and employment initiatives, coordinated by the Ministry of Finance with international support, began to show signs of alleviating hardship. However, the measures also unveiled deep-seated frustrations. Those excluded from these programs voiced claims of favoritism and corruption, sowing discord amongst the population.

Compounding the tension was the emergence of smuggler groups from the sprawling, inhospitable desert. These groups initially presented themselves as underground aid networks for vulnerable communities but were quick to exploit growing discontent. Their trade routes stretched across desolate landscapes and bypassed government oversight, enabling the influx of contraband and weaponry. These activities emboldened local factions and soon culminated in a full-fledged rebel movement.
The rebellion, rooted in cries for economic equality and regional autonomy, gained traction as armed skirmishes erupted across rural Egypt. As violence escalated, local authorities struggled to assert control and called for large scale operations to take place and finally put the situation under control.

Once organized, the military operations proved successful thanks to lack of unity between rebel factions. Some of them dispersed quickly when facing superior armed force, others more indoctrinated by the smugglers mount ever increasing resistance, successfully claiming some of Egyptian military facilities. We will follow one of such operations, dubbed "Operation Sa'ka".
