Major storms passed over my house in Saint Louis Missouri. Managed to capture the whole thing from start to "finish". Uncut length of the video is approximately 1 hour from 820pm to 920pm CDT June 28, 2015.
Overall view begins facing North/Northwest from the South Side of St. Louis. Then moved the camera facing West / Southwest as the storm draws closer, and finally passes directly overhead.
For some reason, my house seems to be in a prime location for these storms to pass directly over, or to pass very close by (see my youtube channel for more storm videos at my house directly - https://www.youtube.com/user/dutchsin... )
Major lightning really begins at about 22min into the video.
Tree breaks in the neighbors yard just after the 43min 50sec mark in the video!
A large supercell thunderstorm blew across the city of Saint Louis Missouri (my home town). This video begins rather softly, with the sound of rumbling thunder in the distance, but no visible lightning.
This quickly changes about 10 minutes to 20 minutes into the video... as the storm moves closer, the rumbling grows much louder, and constant... with dozens of overlapping lighting strikes causing a perpetual roar in the distance.
In some cases, about 27min into the video for instance, the thunder sounds like the roar of jets flying over.
Tornado sirens sounded multiple times , heard in the distance as a droning "ringing" sound coming on and off again three different times.
My location , South St. Louis City (near Tower grove), was hit particularly hard, with hundreds of lightning strikes, 60+mph winds, marble sized hail, and torrential rain.
As I was recording, a strong gust of wind broke off my neighbors tree at the base.. seen at about 43min into this video... the tree has been there for about 10 years.... my sapling on the side of my house survived however!
The winds were strong enough that if anything stronger blew through, some of the larger trees might have been blown over.
Overall, it was an amazing storm to endure. Several nearby lightning strikes really sent me jumping, and of course the winds alone were enough to blow someone around a little bit.
Sorry for the dark "night time view" auto-focus, my camera will not record dark very well without this function turned on.. unfortunately it does an auto-correct with almost every bright flash of lightning.
