Circuits are a part of the training I’ve looked forward to. Despite it being essentially flying in rectangles, it’s very procedural and repetitive and brings together every part of flying – take off, climbing, turning, straight & level, descending and finally landing! After following my instructor through the first, I successfully managed to land the next 4, albeit a little bumpy!
Flying the downwind leg introduce another acronym for pre-landing checks – BUMFICHH. Brakes, Undercarriage, Mixture, Fuel, Instruments, Carb heat, Harnesses and Hatches. This can sometimes be BUMPFICHH where a variable pitch propeller is involved.

46:50 – Landing
My next lesson is booked for Wednesday 20th July where it will inevitably be more circuits.
