WALKS IN DORSET at LONGHAM & KINSON (LONGHAM LAKES RESERVOIR & THE RIVER STOUR) (4K)

In this episode of my series “Walks in Dorset”, I take a 4.5 mile circular walk from Longham to Kinson and back. Once again I am accompanied by my Whippet, Logan.

My journey starts with a full English Breakfast at the Angel Inn (!) which is situated on the A348 in Longham. After breakfast, I leave the pub & head West to Coneygar Farm before changing direction to the South towards my next destination – the Longham Lakes Reservoir.

The lakes are former gravel pits and are now a haven for wildlife. There is a path that goes around both lakes and I follow the one on the Eastern side.

Leaving the lakes, I cross Longham bridge, by the Lpngham Pumping Station, and cross the Millhams Mead Nature Reserve to visit the delightful St Andrews Church at Kinson.

Retracing my steps. Re-crossing the river Stour, I pass the Bridge House Hotel and follow the Stour Valley Way, Eastwards, past Dudsbury Golf Course.

Leaving the Stour shortly after the golf course, I head North to explore the Iron Age Hill Fort at Dudsbury.

My final section of the walk takes me through the pretty woodland of the Belle Vue Plantation, back to The Angel Inn.
