Part 1/4 A demonstration of how to wet shave. For most guys, shaving is considered a loathsome chore, however if done right, shaving can be enjoyable and even relaxing!
Wet shaving is the traditional technique of shaving with hot water and a single blade (DE razor or Straight) using a brush (badger, boar, or synthetic) to lather a cream or soap. Modern wet shaving uses multiple passes to reduce and finally eliminate whiskers. (Without irritation!) Wet shaving may take a little longer than shaving with a multiblade cartridge razor and goo from a can, but it is healthier for your skin and the results are much better too!
The first shaving pass should always be With the Grain (WTG). This means shaving in the direction of whisker growth. The first pass takes the longest because this is where the majority of hair is cut. You will not be completely "smooth" after the first pass, additional passes (re-lathering) will be necessary.
I shot this series of videos in early 2010. My personal routine and technique have changed/improved since then, but I haven't had time to make any additional videos. Hopefully these will be informative and enjoyable to watch.
