Played by David Cook on the Harrison and Harrison organ of All Hallows by the Tower London. 19th June 2021.
The first movement Largo, resembles a concerto movement in which the Full Organ represents the tutti while the Swell represents the solo instrument. The second movement, in fugal style, is played on the Great chorus, alternating with the Choir chorus.
The edition used in this performance is from the ‘Tallis to Wesley’ series of early English organ music edited by Gordon Phillips. Gordon Phillips was the organist at the church of All Hallows by the Tower from 1957 until his death in 1991.
