Generation of 2D cluster states of microwave photons using superconducting qubits.
Superconducting quantum circuits are one of the most solid experimental platforms in quantum physics. Since the first demonstrations in the 1990s, this technology has become very well understood, reliable, replicable and scalable. Nowadays it is among the main candidates for large scale quantum information processing, being the choice of big tech companies like Google or IBM for the race towards fault-tolerant quantum processors. In addition, its flexibility makes it suitable for the study of light-matter interaction and waveguide QED. Superconducting qubits can be used as quantum emitters at microwave frequencies, for the generation of many-body entangled photonic states with applications in metrology, quantum communication and measurement-based quantum information processing.
