Ratha Saptami (రథ సప్తమీ) ☀️🚩
What it is:
Ratha Saptami is an auspicious Hindu festival dedicated to Lord Surya (Sun God). It falls on the 7th day (Saptami) of Shukla Paksha in Magha Masam and is considered the symbolic birth anniversary of the Sun God. This day also marks the turning of the Sun towards the northern hemisphere (Uttarayana).
Significance:
Represents health, vitality, prosperity, and enlightenment
Bathing early in the morning and offering Arghya to Surya is highly sacred
Especially important at Tirumala (Surya Jayanti) and other Surya temples
Common Practices:
Early morning holy bath
Surya Namaskar & Aditya Hridayam chanting
Offering water, red flowers, and fruits to the Sun
Charity and prayers for good health
