Almost three years ago I was lucky to find two old photos of the shop at 2 Lincoln High Street that matched up really well with each other, and I was really pleased with the resulting triple time shift video. Then very recently I found another old photo of the same shop, but unfortunately that didn't quite fit in with the previous ones and I had to put it in it's own time shift.
Anyway, I've put them all together here, with the triple time shift first, and the new one after it.
The High Street was established in Roman times, and no one knows what buildings stood here that far back in time, but the oldest photos here show F G Young's motor cycle shop in the early 1900s. In the 1950s Maples Bicycle shop was there, and you can see that the building had been modified to have a central entrance. That frontage in thirds has been retained in the present day car audio and technology shop. The oldest photos aren't dated, but they look like very early 20th century?
It is interesting to see F G Youngs here, before they grew and established major car dealerships around the city. You may remember the one on Newark Road that has featured in previous videos...
