SQL Class 18.1 : DML AFTER Trigger (Zero to Pro in Database)| Microsoft SQL Server | in English

Trigger is the combination of scripts. But it does not run on specific time. It runs when an event happens. It is not time bound, it is event bound. So if any DDL,DML or logon happens in database, the scripts written inside trigger start working.

So today we will start giving the examples of DML AFTER trigger. Which works on a particular table after the DML events like INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE. You can write any type of scripts inside trigger It might be a simple printing "Hi" as well.

Generally 2 virtual table/magic tables (called INSERTED and DELETED) created in database at the time of happening some event. So we can get the inserted and deleted data from those 2 tables. We can keep a log or we can use recalculate few data once after some update,insert,delete happens on a table. It will work as per situation and as per requirement. So atleast we have some option for this kind of activities.

This is the very preliminary idea of Trigger. I have tried to show many examples and working and properties of trigger in this class. It is just the starting. It will take some time to have the confidence on this topic. We will check this at next few classes even. Please let me know in comment section if you are having any doubt on this
